this is an eight minute song, so my interrpretations a bit lengthy:
at the beginning, when the intro piano music is playing, the camera fades into a bedroom with corgan sitting on the edge of a bed goin through an old box of photos...he finds several photos with himself and his mother when he was a young boy, and as he looks at them he flashes back into memories of his childhood. the vocals key in, and on the "whenever I run to you," part, it cuts to Corgan (as a young innocent child) running through a bright green grassy field and up to his mother happily as if his world is perfect and nothing could go wrong. She smiles and takes him into her arms, then right after "just hanging on," comes to an end, it flashes forward to the near present and he's standing over his mothers grave with a grim morbid look across his face as "The past has let me be returning as in dream" plays. He then throws a single rose across her grave, and then, as "if you have to go...someday Ill follow you and see you on the other side" plays (it shows him singing this part, and this part only), he looks to the bright blue cloudless sky while singing it, as if acknowledging her presence in heaven. After that, as the "but for the grace of love" part plays, the scene flashes back to happy memories of him and his mother(perhaps her pushing him on a swing). Then, as the song plays "your picture out of time...", the scene flashes forward again to him in his room looking at the old photos with a sad expression across his face. Overwhelmed by his sadness, he closes his eyes right on the last note of "shadows kept alive" and everything fades into black as the room is darkened by shadows... ...then as the ebow guitar solo comes in (right after "see you on the other side"),with his eyes closed the camera effects make it seem like he begins to ascend into heaven and a bright glow begins to surround the room. as the drums come in, the glow begins to get brighter and brighter as the drums get louder, soon, it is so bright the room appears entirely bleached out from the brightness(camera effect)...then, right when the cymbal crashes in right, and the non-ebow guitar solo comes , there is a bright flash and billy opens his eyes to see himself in a white eretheral cloud-like place facing his mother . As "but for the grace of love plays again" they both begin to tear up after seeing eachother again, it shows the rest of the band at this part in the backround playing in white heavenly like outfits, and cuts to them for a breif bit. then, right when it gets to the "long horses we are born" part Billy and his mother embrace and as the music fades back out and only a solitary piano comes back in...everything fades to black then fades back in and corgan is in his bed waking from sleep to realize sadly, he was only dreaming. He looks around and sees that he had left the photo box out, and as the last note hits he take the photo box and puts the lid on it and goes back to sleep.....(a few moments later the reverse loop and ebow effected guitars fade slowly in and a transparent image of corgans mother appears over corgans bed looking down upon him and smiling...as the music fades out for the final time...the video also fades out.) the end By - "Charma Roumeliote" db3013@dragonbbs.com *the entire video is black and white unless noted otherwise* as the song starts,you see a woman with blonde hair in a ponytail sitting on the edge of a bed looking at pictures crying. "whenever I run..." shows the pictures: the woman running to a man.The images being to move,and,being shocked that this is happening,the woman drops the picture.as the picture falls,the camera zooms into the picture. "just hanging on..." the man is leaving a house,but there is a small child (his son) grabbing onto his pant leg,and though you can't hear him,you can tell that he is begging his father to stay (tears rolling down his face) "if you have to go..." D'Arcy in a black over coat sitting on a bench singing the lyrics.There is a man across the street (Jimmy). James sits down beside her.They are both very sad,and as she puts her head on his shoulder,he puts his arm around her should (awww,so cute!) "but for the grace of love..." everything goes into slow motion.They are about to kiss,but suddenly there is a white flash,and the next scene is of a child walking down the street,crossing a road.His father is driving by in a black old car and doesn't stop to avoid hitting the child.Jimmy grabs his arm and pulls him out of the way of the car.Water splashes up as the father drives by,and it gets on the camera.In every drop of water you can see Billy's face. zoom into a drop in the lower left corner,and we see Billy sitting on a bed singing.An angel appears behind him,but you can't see her face and he doesn't notice her.She suddenly disappears. "if you have to go..." back to D'Arcy and James.He is walking away with an angry and hurt look on his face,a single tear streams down his face.D'Arcy looks worried and even sadder then before.Cut to her hands.She turns a ring on her left ring finger.Cut to her face again.she bits her lip. another flash of light.We see the little boy,now a bit older (before he was about 6,now he is about 13) knelling in a corner crying.His father is behind him yelling at him. as soon as the lyrics stop,the window bursts.The angel we saw behind Billy earlier floats in.She picks up the boy and wipes away his tears.He look up at her and smiles,realizing that it is his mother,the woman from the begining with the blonde hair.She then floats out of the window with her son,bringing him with her to heaven.now we see the dad,with handcuffs on,lying on the floor crying. we now see a baby in a cribe.Billy and Yelena are leaning over him smiling and making silly faces at the baby to amuse him.They look at eachother and kiss.Zoom to their lips and zoom out to see James and D'Arcy on the bench kissing. *at the clicking noise after the lyrics end* Jimmy is across the street making one of those hand up to open mouth shocked looks,then splosh! a water balloon is dropped on D'Arcy and James,and the scene explodes into colour.They turn around to see Billy on the ground laughing.zoom through Billy's eyes and out through the angel's,who is walking with her son in a field with a new man into a beautiful orange sunset.
