April 2, 2008 - Entertainment Centre - Adelaide SA, Australia Concert review by simon lab QOFTSA put in a solid show to begin the night. I actually only saw the last four songs of their set but recognised songs like little sister and they closed with a great rendition of No one knows. Singer Josh Homme held the crowd well and had a bit of a rant about the no smoking rule of the stadium. Then the mighty Pumpkins came on at about 9:20 pm . They opened the show with the song Porcelina which was fantastic. The power was immediate and the large crowd seemed extremely excited to see the Pumpkins in Adelaide for the first time in approx. ten years. It was my first time seeing the band and could not wait. They went on to play great songs like today, mayonaise, bullet with butterfly wings and these went down really well with the audience. Corgans voice has been a bit hit or miss in the past but tonight he was fantastic. Jimmy on drums was truly incredible, the way he used his whole drum kit was phenomenal. Billy had a chat to the crowd about a quarter into the show and pleaded with the crowd to embrace the current pumpkins music even though he knew that the majority of the crowd were there for past classics. Off Zeitgeist they played tarantula and cmon lets go from memory and i must say the band did well to meld the new material with the old. Did I mention how loud they were ? stand out songs for me were stand inside your love and Billys solo acoustic version of 1979. The last half hour of the show saw the band play an incredible instrumental which musically was amazing, but i think most of the crowd would of rather have heard another 6 or 7 songs instead. The Pumpkins put on a great show but my only dissapointment was not hearing more songs from their incredible repertoire of songs. All in all though it was great to see The Pumpkins for the first time and hopefully they come back to Adelaide in the not too distant future.
