August 13, 2008 - Tennessee Theatre - Knoxville, TN Concert review by Stephen After traveling 4 hrs to get to the venue, I can honestly say that it was all worth it. The Tennessee Theatre was an extraordinary place.. it provided an exciting atmosphere to see my favorite band. I have seen the Pumpkins several times in concert over the years, but have never seen Billy play with such energy. It was amazing, and infectious. He did little talking until close to the end of the show.. just rocking! Some major highlights for me were the Beginning is the End is the Beginning song. I have always loved it, and thanks to the Watchmen preview, it is finally getting some attention. Also seeing "Eye" was great, as well as some other unexpected tunes. The Pink Floyd cover at the end was a little bit of a drag (it was too long).. I would've much rather heard Hummer or An Ode to No One, or Silverfuck would've been great. I have no complaints, though. The grandest part of the show was the kazoo version the entire band did of We Only Come Out at Night It was a softer than the rest of the show (minus the acoustic), but really captured the quirkiness that makes the Pumpkins a classic band. Loved it, and wish I could see them again soon. Also, the new band members did a great job. James and D'Arcy weren't missed. Rock on, Billy.. I'll keep coming back
